Mormon Doctrine
Biblical Truth
The universe is governed by a head god and his council. "The head God called together the gods and sat in grand council to create the world and people in it"  (Joseph Smith, Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, pp. 348-349). "God the Lord, he that created the heavens, and stretched them out; he that spread forth the earth, and that which cometh out of it; he that giveth beath unto the people upon it, and spirit to them that walk therein" (Isaiah 42:5).
"I have made the earth, and created man upon it: I, even my hands, have stretched out the heavens, and all their host have I commanded" (Isaiah 45:12).
If there is somebody else up there managing things, the all-knowing God who created all things in the heavens doesn't know about it.
God has goddess wives. "This doctrine that there is a Mother in Heaven was affirmed in all plainness by the First Presidency of the Church" (Bruce R. McConkie, Apostle, Mormon Doctrine, p. 516) There is absolutely no mention of any of wives of God. As a matter of fact Matthew 22:29,30 says "...You are in error because you do not know the Scriptures or the power of God. At the resurrection people will neither marry nor be given in marriage; they will be like the angels in heaven." There will be no marrying in heaven.
God is limited by a physical body. "The Father has a body of flesh and bones as tangible as man's" (Doctrine and Covenants, 130:22) "If God possesses a form, that form is of necessity of definite proportions, and therefore of limited extension and space. It is impossible for Him to occupy at one time more than one space of such limits" (James E. Talmage, Articles of Faith, p.43) The one true God is infinite. Any other "god" is a false god.
"But will God really dwell on earth with men? The heavens, even the highest heavens, cannot contain you. How much less this temple I have built! (2 Chronicles 6:18).
"Before a word is on my tongue you know it completely, O LORD. You hem me in--behind and before; you have laid your hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain. Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths,  you are there. (Psalm 139:4-8)
""Can anyone hide in secret places so that I cannot see him?"  declares the LORD. "Do not I fill heaven and earth?" declares the LORD." (Jeremiah 23:24).
There are many gods: ""...In all congregations when I have preached on the subject of the Deity, it has been the plurality of Gods" (Joseph Smith, Founder and First Prophet, History of the Church, vol. 6, pp. 308, 474). There was, is, and always will be only one God.
"..Before me no god was formed, nor will there be one after me." (Isaiah 43:10)
"...I am the first and I am the last; apart from me there is no God. "Who then is like me? Let him proclaim it. Let him declare and lay out before me what has happened since I established my ancient people, and what is yet to come-- yes, let him foretell what will come. ...Is there any God besides me? No, there is no other Rock; I know not one."  (Isaiah 44:6-8)
"I am the LORD, and there is no other; apart from me there is no God. I will strengthen you, though you have not acknowledged me, so that from the rising of the sun to the place of its setting men may know there is none besides me. I am the LORD, and there is no other. (Isaiah 45:5-6)
"You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that--and shudder." (James 2:19)
Jesus and Satan are brothers. "The appointment of Jesus to be the Savior of the world was contested by one of the other sons of God -- Lucifer. This spirit-brother of Jesus desperately tried to become the Svio of mankind" (Milton R. Hunter, First Council of Seventy, The Gospel Through the Ages, p. 15) The real Jesus is the only begotten Son of God. He is God's son:

Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God-- children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband's will, but born of God. The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only,  who came from the Father, full of grace and truth. (John 1:12-14)

Satan was a created angel -- not a son of God:

"How you have fallen from heaven, O morning star, son of the dawn! You have been cast down to the earth, you who once laid low the nations! You said in your heart, "I will ascend to heaven; I will raise my throne above the stars of God; I will sit enthroned on the mount of assembly, on the utmost heights of the sacred mountain. I will ascend above the tops of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High." But you are brought down to the grave, to the depths of the pit." (Isaiah 14:12-15)

Jesus created all things, and in Him the fullness of God dwells!:

"He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy. For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross." (Colossians 1:15-20)
"Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature  God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the very nature  of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death-- even death on a cross! Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. (Philippians 2:5-11)
'In the past God spoke to our forefathers through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom he made the universe. The Son is the radiance of God's glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven. So he became as much superior to the angels as the name he has inherited is superior to theirs. For to which of the angels did God ever say, "You are my Son; today I have become your Father " ? Or again, "I will be his Father, and he will be my Son" ? And again, when God brings his firstborn into the world, he says, "Let all God's angels worship him." In speaking of the angels he says, "He makes his angels winds, his servants flames of fire." But about the Son he says, "Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever, and righteousness will be the scepter of your kingdom. You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness; therefore God, your God, has set you above your companions by anointing you with the oil of joy." He also says, "In the beginning, O Lord, you laid the foundations of the earth, and the heavens are the work of your hands. They will perish, but you remain; they will all wear out like a garment. You will roll them up like a robe; like a garment they will be changed. But you remain the same, and your years will never end." To which of the angels did God ever say, "Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet" ? (Hebrews 1:1-13)

Mary was not a virgin. "Christ was begotten by an Immortal Father in the same way that mortal men are begotten by mortal fathers...Christ was born into the world as the literal Son of this Holy Being; He was born in the same person, real, and literal sense that any mortal son is born to a mortal father" (Bruce R. McConkie, Mormon Doctrine, pp. 547, 742) Jesus was begotten by the Holy Ghost, Mary was indeed a virgin:
"This is how the birth of Jesus Christ came about: His mother Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be with child through the Holy Spirit. Because Joseph her husband was a righteous man and did not want to expose her to public disgrace, he had in mind to divorce her quietly. But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, "Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus,  because he will save his people from their sins." All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: "The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel" --which means, "God with us." (Matthew 1:18-23)
"The angel answered, "The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called  the Son of God." (Luke 1:35)
Jesus was married. "Jesus was the bridegroom at the marriage of Cana of Galilee. We say it was Jesus Christ who was married, to be brought into relation whereby he could see his seed" (Orson Hyde, Apostle, Journal of Discourses, vol 2., p.82) Jesus and his disciples were guests at Cana:
"On the third day a wedding took place at Cana in Galilee. Jesus' mother was there, and Jesus and his disciples had also been invited to the wedding." (John 2:1-2)
Marriage in a Mormon temple (celestial marriage) is mandatory to progress to becoming a god in Mormonism, though today this doctrine is generally not taught openly. But to fit the theology of Mormonism, the Mormon "Jesus" has to be married -- or He would only be a ministering servant to those in Mormonism's heave who have "celestial marriage".
"Jesus replied, "You are in error because you do not know the Scriptures or the power of God. At the resurrection people will neither marry nor be given in marriage; they will be like the angels in heaven." (Matthew 22:29-30)
"God himself was one as we are now, and is an exalted man...I say, if you were to see him today, you would see him like a man in form...like yourselves in all person, image, and very form as a man...He was once a man like us; yea, that God himself, the Father of us all, dwelt on earth" (Joseph Smith, History of the Church, vol. 6, p. 305) God was never a man. He created man! God has been God from all eternity to all eternity:
"Praise be to the LORD, the God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting. Amen and Amen." (Psalm 41:13)
"Before the mountains were born or you brought forth the earth and the world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God." (Psalm 90:2)
"In the beginning you laid the foundations of the earth, and the heavens are the work of your hands. They will perish, but you remain; they will all wear out like a garment. Like clothing you will change them and they will be discarded. But you remain the same, and your years will never end. (Psalm 102:25-27)
"Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like mortal man and birds and animals and reptiles." (Romans 1:22-23)
Man may become god. "Here then is eternal life ... to know the only wise and true God; and you have got to learn how to be Gods yourselves, and to be kings and priests to God, the same as all gods have done before you ... To inherit the same power, the same glory and the same exaltation, until you arrive at the station of God" (Joseph Smith, History of the Church, vol. 6, p. 306) Here's that great lie of Satan again from the beginning, that man may become a god:
"Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the LORD God had made. He said to the woman, "Did God really say, `You must not eat from any tree in the garden'?" The woman said to the serpent, "We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden, but God did say, `You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.'" "You will not surely die," the serpent said to the woman. "For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil." (Genesis 3:1-5)
"The word of the LORD came to me: "Son of man, say to the ruler of Tyre, `This is what the Sovereign LORD says: "`In the pride of your heart you say, "I am a god; I sit on the throne of a god in the heart of the seas." But you are a man and not a god, though you think you are as wise as a god. Are you wiser than Daniel ? Is no secret hidden from you? By your wisdom and understanding you have gained wealth for yourself and amassed gold and silver in your treasuries. By your great skill in trading you have increased your wealth, and because of your wealth your heart has grown proud. "`Therefore this is what the Sovereign LORD says: "`Because you think you are wise, as wise as a god, I am going to bring foreigners against you, the most ruthless of nations; they will draw their swords against your beauty and wisdom and pierce your shining splendor. They will bring you down to the pit, and you will die a violent death in the heart of the seas. Will you then say, "I am a god," in the presence of those who kill you? You will be but a man, not a god, in the hands of those who slay you. You will die the death of the uncircumcised at the hands of foreigners. I have spoken, declares the Sovereign LORD.'"  (Ezekiel 28:1-10)
Total perfection is demanded. "We also have to forsake the sin and never repeat it, not even in our minds...In order to remain forgiven, we must never commit the sin again" (Discussion F, Uniform Systems for Teaching Families, pp.35-36)
"In other words, If there is one divine law that he does not keep he is barred from participating in the (Celestial) kingdom, and figuratively guilty of all, since he is denied all" (Joseph Fielding Smith, Answers to Gospel Questions, vol 3, p.26)
"God brings back former sins" (Doctrine and Covenants 82:7)
"To be exalted one must keep the whole law" (Doctrines of Salvation 2:6)
So that means a Mormon cannot break one law, (there's over 600 of them). And they better make a checklist of those laws, so as not to commit even one of them a second time. So what they say here is you can break a law, but never repeat it, but if you break even one law you've lost out.

Have you ever sinned the same sin twice?
All humans struggle with sin and temptation not even the apostle Paul was exempt "I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do." (Romans 7:15)
God promises there will be no double indemnity, that a forgiven sin can never be used against a person twice "I, even I, am he who blots out your transgressions, for my own sake, and remembers your sins no more." (Isaiah 43:25). "For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more." (Hebrews 8:12).
In light of these passages, how could God bring back former sins when he refuses to remember them?  All the good works in the world will not cleanse a sinner of his sins. If people could purify themselves there would be no need for Jesus to pay the ultimate price for our transgressions.
"Who can say, "I have kept my heart pure; I am clean and without sin"? " (Proverbs 20:9)
"Everyone who has this hope in him purifies himself, just as he is pure. Everyone who sins breaks the law; in fact, sin is lawlessness. But you know that he appeared so that he might take away our sins. And in him is no sin. (1 John 3:3-5)
"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness." (1John 1:9)
"For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God," (Romans 3:23)

If the god of Mormonism expects people to never even have a sinful thought, who could make it?

Are you keeping the whole law?
"They tie up heavy loads and put them on men's shoulders, but they themselves are not willing to lift a finger to move them." (Matthew 23:4). Jesus accuses the Pharisees of laying burdens upon the shoulders of people which could not bear them. Mormonism is very similiar.
Does the Mormon that uses Matthew 5:48 (Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect") really feel he/she has reached perfection?
"Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: "Cursed is everyone who is hung on a tree."" (Galatians 3:13)
"..know that a man is not justified by observing the law, but by faith in Jesus Christ. So we, too, have put our faith in Christ Jesus that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by observing the law, because by observing the law no one will be justified."(Galatians 2:16)
'What shall we say, then? Is the law sin? Certainly not! Indeed I would not have known what sin was except through the law. For I would not have known what coveting really was if the law had not said, "Do not covet."" (Romans 7:7)
"For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man the many will be made righteous." (Romans 5:19)
"..because by one sacrifice he has made perfect forever those who are being made holy." Hebrews 10:14)

No matter how many good works we think we might have done, there is always a little more that we did not accomplish. Try as they may a Mormon will never be able to satisfy the requirements of God.

The black race is a cursed people. "Not only was Cain called upon to suffer, but because of his wickedness, he became the father of an inferior race. A curse was placed upon him and that curse has been continued through his lineage and must do so while time endures. Millions of souls have come into this world cursed with a blck skin and have been denied the privilege of Priesthood and the fulness of the blessings of the Gospel" (Joseph Fielding Smith, The Way to Perfection, p. 102) It later became expedient for the Mormon Church to open the Priesthood to blacks in 1978, but the alleged revelation did not change Mormon doctrine regarding the penalty of being black. This revelation also directly contradicted the established Mormon doctrine.

The color of a person's skin has no merit with God:

"For God does not show favoritism." (Romans 2:11)
"Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all men, because all sinned--" (Romans 5:12)
"For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship.  And by him we cry, "Abba,  Father." The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God's children." (Romans 8:15-16)
"If you really keep the royal law found in Scripture, "Love your neighbor as yourself,"  you are doing right. But if you show favoritism, you sin and are convicted by the law as lawbreakers." (James 2:8-9)
That includes all of us -- black, white, red, or yellow, king or slave. All of us are made in God's image.

The Bible is incomplete and has serious translation error. "Ignorant translators, careless transcribers, or designating and corupt priests have committed many errors -- many plain and precious things were deleted, in consequence of which error and falsehood poured into the various churches. One of the great heresies of modern Christendom is the unfounded assumption that the Bible contains all of the inspired teachings now extant among men" (Bruce R. McConkie, Mormon Doctrine, pp. 82,83) They also said that Joseph's Smith Translation of the Bible was incomplete although on July 2, 1833, at Kirtland, Ohio, Joseph Smith states that he "this day finished the translating of the Scriptures." (History of the Church, Vol. 1, p. 368)

The Bible is God's Word; and the Word of God will stand forever:

"The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God stands forever" (Isaiah 40:8)
"..but the word of the Lord stands forever." And this is the word that was preached to you." (1 Peter 1:25)
"All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness," (2 Timothy 3:16)
"He writes the same way in all his letters, speaking in them of these matters. His letters contain some things that are hard to understand, which ignorant and unstable people distort, as they do the other Scriptures, to their own destruction."  (2 Peter 3:16)

All churches are false, except for the Latter-day Saints (Mormon) Church. (Pearl of Great Price, Joseph Smith 2:19)
"This Church is the only true and living church upon the face of the whole earth" (Doctrine and Covenants, 1:30)
"There is no salvation outside the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints" (Bruce R. McConkie, Mormon Doctrine, p. 670)
The church is the spiritual body of Christian believers with Jesus at its head. That is the true church -- not any specific organization.
"And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way. (Ephesians 1:22-23)
"It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God's people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ. Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of men in their deceitful scheming. Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into him who is the Head, that is, Christ. From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work. (Ephesians 4:11-16)
Joseph Smith was a holy prophet. "I have more to boast of than ever any man had. I am the only man that has ever been able to keep a whole church together since the days of Adam. A large majority of the whole have stood by me. Neither Paul, John, Peter, nor Jesus ever did it. I boast that no man ever did such a work as I. The followers of Jesus ran away from Him; but the Latter-day Saints never ran away from me yet" (Joseph Smith, History of the Church, vol. 6, pp. 408-409) "Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet's own interpretation. For prophecy never had its origin in the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit. (2 Peter 1:20-21)

No prophet of God ever made a statement like Joseph Smith's. King Nebuchadnezzar had a similar pride to Joseph Smith's. He was driven out by God to live with the animals.
"All this happened to King Nebuchadnezzar. Twelve months later, as the king was walking on the roof of the royal palace of Babylon, he said, "Is not this the great Babylon I have built as the royal residence, by my mighty power and for the glory of my majesty? The words were still on his lips when a voice came from heaven, "This is what is decreed for you, King Nebuchadnezzar: Your royal authority has been taken from you. You will be driven away from people and will live with the wild animals; you will eat grass like cattle. Seven times will pass by for you until you acknowledge that the Most High is sovereign over the kingdoms of men and gives them to anyone he wishes."
Immediately what had been said about Nebuchadnezzar was fulfilled. He was driven away from people and ate grass like cattle. His body was drenched with the dew of heaven until his hair grew like the feathers of an eagle and his nails like the claws of a bird. (Daniel 4:28-33)

Prophets are above Scriptue. "The living Prophet is more vital to us than the Standard Works, (Bible, Book of Mormon, etc.). The living Prophet is more important to us than a dead prophet (David, Moses, Isaiah, etc.). Those who would remove prophets from politics would take God out of government" (LDS prophet, President Ezra Taft Benson, address at Brigham Young University, February 26, 1980) ""Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves." (Matthew 7:15)

In these last days God speaks through His Son:

"In the past God spoke to our forefathers through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom he made the universe. (Hebrews 1:1-2)

The authority claimed by the Mormon Church is through an "Aaronic Piesthood," which cannot be valid since Jesus abolished it when He took its place, and a "Melchizedek Priesthood," which never existed as any operative "priesthood.":

"And what we have said is even more clear if another priest like Melchizedek appears, one who has become a priest not on the basis of a regulation as to his ancestry but on the basis of the power of an indestructible life. For it is declared: "You are a priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek." The former regulation is set aside because it was weak and useless (for the law made nothing perfect), and a better hope is introduced, by which we draw near to God. " (Hebrews 7:15-19)

"But the ministry Jesus has received is as superior to theirs as the covenant of which he is mediator is superior to the old one, and it is founded on better promises. For if there had been nothing wrong with that first covenant, no place would have been sought for another. But God found fault with the people and said : "The time is coming, declares the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah. It will not be like the covenant I made with their forefathers when I took them by the hand to lead them out of Egypt, because they did not remain faithful to my covenant, and I turned away from them,  declares the Lord. This is the covenant I will make with the house of Israel after that time, declares the Lord. I will put my laws in their minds and write them on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people. No longer will a man teach his neighbor, or a man his brother, saying, `Know the Lord,' because they will all know me, from the least of them to the greatest. For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more." By calling this covenant "new," he has made the first one obsolete; and what is obsolete and aging will soon disappear. (Hebrews 8:6-13)

Jesus is our only High Priest in the likeness of Melchizedek -- He alone holds this priesthood permanently:

"And what we have said is even more clear if another priest like Melchizedek appears, one who has become a priest not on the basis of a regulation as to his ancestry but on the basis of the power of an indestructible life. For it is declared: "You are a priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek." The former regulation is set aside because it was weak and useless (for the law made nothing perfect), and a better hope is introduced, by which we draw near to God. And it was not without an oath! Others became priests without any oath, but he became a priest with an oath when God said to him: "The Lord has sworn and will not change his mind: `You are a priest forever.'" Because of this oath, Jesus has become the guarantee of a better covenant. Now there have been many of those priests, since death prevented them from continuing in office; but because Jesus lives forever, he has a permanent priesthood. Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them. Such a high priest meets our need--one who is holy, blameless, pure, set apart from sinners, exalted above the heavens. Unlike the other high priests, he does not need to offer sacrifices day after day, first for his own sins, and then for the sins of the people. He sacrificed for their sins once for all when he offered himself. For the law appoints as high priests men who are weak; but the oath, which came after the law, appointed the Son, who has been made perfect forever. " (Hebrews 7:15-28)
"When Christ came as high priest of the good things that are already here,  he went through the greater and more perfect tabernacle that is not man-made, that is to say, not a part of this creation. He did not enter by means of the blood of goats and calves; but he entered the Most Holy Place once for all by his own blood, having obtained eternal redemption. The blood of goats and bulls and the ashes of a heifer sprinkled on those who are ceremonially unclean sanctify them so that they are outwardly clean. How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death,  so that we may serve the living God! For this reason Christ is the mediator of a new covenant, that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance--now that he has died as a ransom to set them free from the sins committed under the first covenant." (Hebrews 9:11-15)

Mormons are also saviors. "We are the only people that know how to save our progenitors, how to save ourselves, and how to save our posterity in the celestial kingdom of God; that we are the people God has chosen by whom to establish his kingdom and intorduce correct principles into the world; and that we are in fact the saviours of the world..." (John Taylor, Journal of Discourses, vol. 6, p. 163) "I, even I, am the LORD, and apart from me there is no savior" (Isaiah 43:11)

Over 500 verses deal with death, and over 300 deal with salvation. Not one verse even hints that we can be saviors of the dead. The Bible tells us "And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:" (Hebrews 9:27)

The Mormon concept states: "After this comes missionary lessons, a proxy baptism, and a series of Mormon ordinances that will allow you to become gods..."

Joseph Smith will be our final judge. "No man or woman in this dispensation will ever enter into the celestial kingdom without the consent of Joseph Smith. From the day that the Priesthood was taken from the earth to the winding up scene of all things, every man and woman must have the certificate of Joseph Smith, junior, as a passport to their entrance into the mansion where God and Christ are" (Brigham Young, Journal of Discourses, vol. 7, p. 289) Jesus said we would be judged by His word and made no mention of Joseph Smith.

"There is a judge for the one who rejects me and does not accept my words; that very word which I spoke will condemn him at the last day." (John 12:48)

Paul referred to Christ as our judge -- not Joseph:

"In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who will judge the living and the dead, and in view of his appearing and his kingdom, I give you this charge:" (2 Timothy 4:1)
