away...and brought Babylon...and placed them in the cities of
Samaria." An
inscription of Sargon says: "In my first year I captured Samaria. I took
captive 27,290 people.
People of other land, who never paid tribute, I settled in
Samaria."

King of Judah

II Kings 24:6-17). Two impressions of his Steward's Seal have been found:
one at Kiriath-sepher,
the other at Beth-shemesh.

Lifted Up

Kings 25:27,30). Tablets were found in the ruins of the Hanging Gardens
of Babylon
listing the names of
those to whom regular allotments of grain and oil were made,
among them, "Jehoiachin
king of the land of Judah."

Burning
of the Cities of Judah
In
II Kings 25:9; Jeremiah 34:7, Nebuchadnezzar burned the cities of Judah.
In four of
these cities: Lachich,
Bethel, Kiriath-sepher and Beth-shemesh, ash layers of the fires
have been found.

Uzziah,
king of Judah (787-735 B.C., II Chronicles 26). His
name if mentioned four
times in an inscription
in Tiglath-pileser.
Jotham,
king of Judah (749-734 B.C., II Chronicles 27). His
Seal, inscribed,
"Belonging to Jotham,"
has been found in the excavations at Ezion-geber.
Ahaz,
king of Judah (741-726 B.C., II Chronicles 28). A
Seal inscribed, "Belonging to
an Official of Ahaz,"
was found.

Ahaz
Sent Tribute to Tiglath-pileser

Kings 16:7,8). An inscription of Tiglath-pileser says, "The tribute of
Ahaz the
Judean I received,
gold, silver, lead, tin and linen."

Hezekiah's
Repairs in the Wall
(II
Chronicles 32:5). The repairs, hurriedly done, under pressure of the Assyrians
siege,
are distinctly indicated
in the walls as they stand today. Foundations of the "outer wall"
have been discovered,
running parallel to David's Wall, 30 feet apart.

Hezekiah's
Tunnel

Kings 20:20; II Chronicles 32:3,4). This tunnel, running 1700 feet through
solid rock,
has been found

The
Siloam Inscription
This
inscription telling how Hezekiah's Tunnel was built was found in the tunnel's
mouth.
